The Bangladesh JSPS Alumni Association (BJSPSAA)

BJSPSAA is a network of Bangladeshi researchers and professionals who have participated in programs organized by the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS). Established in March 2009 with support from the Embassy of Japan in Bangladesh and the JSPS Head Office in Tokyo, BJSPSAA aims to foster scientific exchange, research, and cultural collaboration between Bangladesh and Japan. The association encourages the establishment of collaborative networks between its members and Japanese scholars through the organization of scientific meetings and symposia.

BJSPSAA actively engages in various activities to promote its objectives. In February 2025, the association hosted its 16th International Seminar in Dhaka, focusing on advancing scientific discourse and collaboration. Additionally, BJSPSAA conducts guidance seminars and lectures under the BRIDGE Fellowship Program, facilitating knowledge sharing and strengthening ties between Bangladeshi and Japanese researchers.

Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, BJSPSAA adapted by organizing virtual events to continue its mission. For instance, in February 2022, the association held its 13th International Seminar as a webinar, ensuring the continuity of scientific exchange during challenging times.

BJSPSAA operates under the guidance of the JSPS Bangkok Office, which supports alumni associations in Thailand, India, Bangladesh, the Philippines, Nepal, Indonesia, and Malaysia. This regional support helps BJSPSAA maintain strong connections with JSPS and other alumni associations, further promoting international collaboration and scientific advancement.
